Book Village

The whole village, first pass: the open space with five ways out. South down the high street to the shadow-screen alley and the music hall; southwest to the quay, the boardwalk and the diner; west along the bluff to the memorial garden; east through the wheat and the arbor to where the sidewalk ends.

Mark it: click anything to drop a numbered pin and type a note; Claude can read your pins and go to each view. Walk with ↑↓ (or W/S, or scroll); ←→ turn you. Drag to look around: you stay facing wherever you look; looking up or down drifts back to level. Click Atticus for his nametag. Director mode: click a building to shape it; you can also look all the way around, and Q/E raise and lower your eye.

What changed in round 5

Three looks to compare (top left). C is the new one: the same houses as A, flattened to their fronts and standing on paper tabs, lit by the same sun, lanterns and window glow; the barrels and crates are cut-outs too.

No gaps, nothing passing through: houses stand wall to wall; neighbours either share one wall (when one leans, the other gives) or have two walls a hairline apart. Each house tapers to fill its slot in the ring.

The stair alley is walled like the Amalfi steps: the stairs fill the lane, stone walls run on past the houses to the next row, an iron handrail climbs the left wall, and the stairs arrive at a door.

Settled: the miniature lens and the glow + soft shadows are always on now; full stop-motion is gone; light pools default to your 0.2. No window under the clock.

The real textures and props add about 6 MB to the first load (a few seconds on home broadband). "Glow + soft shadows" is the most expensive switch; turn it off to compare.
